Worker's Compensation - Special Compensation Fund
The Legislature is currently RAIDING the Worker's Compensation Special Compensation fund to offset their cost for MORE SPENDING than the state can afford. The legislation has been inserted into the Omnibus Jobs bill carried by Rep. Tom Rukavina and Senator Dave Tomassoni.
CONTACT your Senator, Representative and the Governor TODAY to tell them to stop the raid on the Special Compensation fund for Worker's Compensation programs!! These Workers Comp dollars are assessed to YOU to supplement Worker's Compensation programs designated by the legislature. They fund supplementary and second-injury benefit programs as well as paying the operating expenses of the workers' compensation divisions of the Department of Labor and Industry, the Office of Administrative Hearings and the Workers' Compensation Court of Appeals. Right now, you pay $24 for every $100 YOU PAY for an injured worker claim. This $24 goes directly to the Special Compensation fund!
If this provision passes the assessment will have to go up at least 21% to cover the loss of the funds, as the liability continues.
This is a "TAX" on Worker's Compensation!! Employers in the hardest hit industries are usually the ones who pay the most WC so it hits us harder than say a banker or stockbroker. Our industry CANNOT sustain this ADDED TAX to supplement spending at the Legislature. Tell the Legislature and the Governor to stop the raid on the this fund!!!
