MY VIEW
January was another busy month for projects at the LRBA office. We had a great turnout with a full vendor room again, for our Electrical EXPO. A big thanks to Mike Eidenschink for all his work on this Expo.
Hopefully next year other electricians will help on this project, so Mike doesn’t need to do all the leg work himself. This year we added 2 days of Power Limited classes which was not well attended. I am not sure if it is that a lot of technicians, working on HVAC that need to be licensed, are not licensed or if there were classes available elsewhere.
We are working on the BUILDERS EXPO in Fergus Falls and Detroit Lakes. Responses for these have been quite slow, even with several mailers going out. We are working on the Builders Show, adding the Sports Show in the South arena. All of the big booths have been sold, and 5 single booths have been requested. If you haven’t booked your booth yet, there are openings but book as soon as possible.
The Department of Labor has changed many things as far as setting up classes, but for the builders they have added a QB#, which is a needed item to be used for applying for this licensing term. We have an awesome class too, with Russell Thornberg, from Rochester, as instructor. He is doing a class on Roof to Soil, which will also go into building codes.
Another project, this past month, was a crooked playhouse, built by some LRBA members. The Boys and Girls Club will be selling raffle chances on this. The playhouse turned out really well. I have pictures and information in another article.
Our Annual Meeting and Christmas Party was a fun night too. If you missed it, you missed a great time!
Our web master’s computer crashed recently and she is missing some of the website corrections that I submitted. I suggest everyone go to the website, www.lakeregionbuilders.com and check to make sure your listing is correct and if there is any additions or corrections.
I hope our members are getting busy with bidding and things are starting to look up. Till next month!
